Minimizing drift - how teams can use this tool to keep initiatives aligned and heighten information alignment is a bridge building tool. Teams aren't disconnected by infomation per se - they find themselves creating
First, I'll walk through various alignment issues see, and how they lead back to DRIFT, currently defined as the delta between operating teams and strategy. I'll walk through some of results of DRIFT, such as SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS - where teams take on "innovation" projects with no company support that, as a result, go nowhere.
Next, I'll introduce the INITATIVE document, which has five sections. An ABSTRACT, COMPANY OBJECTIVES,SUCCESS vs SURVIVAL, RESOURCE ALLOCATION, and TIME SCOPE. These sections are tools to help a person understand the level of drift inside of the strategy, and has the added benefit of exposing pockets of information held (unwittingly) by SME's.
Finally, I'll introduce qualitative metrics for teams to understand if it's working - these things include CREATIVE TENSION (are teams challenging each other since they have more information) and higher DECISION VELOCITY (teams now just ask questions and make decisions, less "political worry" around asking questions.
